Nightlife in Meribel: Guide to restaurants, bars and clubs

When it comes to apres-ski, Meribel has just about it all. This ski resort has some of the best bars and pubs around, as well as one of the most renowned clubs in the Three Valley ski area. The three villages comprising Meribel: Méribel Centre, Méribel-Mottaret and Méribel Village, are each unique in what they have to offer in terms of nightlife. The liveliest of the three is, however, Meribel Centre. Whether you want to experience a night out in true French style or party like you do at home...you will find what you are looking for in Meribel. However, be warned that bar hopping tends to be more popular than clubbing and most bars tend to open until 2 a.m.

Diners are also in for a treat in this ski resort as it has lots of international restaurants offering something for everyone. It is a good idea to book beforehand when eating out in Meribel, as restaurants are usually very busy throughout the week, especially on chalet girl’s nights off (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday nights).

Nightlife in Meribel Centre

Meribel Centre is the liveliest village in the resort. It has a number of famous clubs such as Dick's Tea Bar and Le Loft. The area also has a number of great French restaurants where you can try specialities such as fondue accompanied with a glass of red wine. If you have trouble deciding where to go, the best thing to do is ask a local who will point you in the right direction.

This is a cosy restaurant with a warm setting and mountain views. At La Flambée you can try homemade pizzas, Savoyard and Italian specialities, and grilled meats.

Restaurant La Galette.

Located in the heart of Meribel is La Galette Restaurant. This restaurant offers guests a wonderful selection of Savoyard specialities including raclette, fondue, tartiflette, crepes and pizzas, which can be enjoyed in a cosy setting. La Galette is open from midday to midnight daily.

Restaurant Le Refuge

Restaurant Le Refuge is a good eatery if you are travelling on a budget as you will get great food at reasonable prices. It is also a suitable restaurant for families as it serves a selection of Italian favourites such as pizzas, pastas and steaks.

This restaurant, wine and tapas bar is located in the very heart of Meribel Centre and it has an international menu. La Taverne’s cosy log cabin setting is the perfect place where you can enjoy seafood, duck and the best Savoyard selection.

Dick’s Tea Bar

This is perhaps the most renowned nightclub in the Alps…..Dick's Tea Bar is open from 8 a.m. until the early hours of the morning. During the day, this venue is a place to refuel and have a drink, get the latest information regarding the slopes and catch up on live sporting events. At night, it transforms into one of the busiest venues around with live music and DJs to keep you entertained through the night.

Barometer

Not looking for a wild night out? Then try Barometer. This is a bar located in the heart of Meribel Centre and it is the perfect place to have a few drinks, relax and unwind, watch live sporting events and chill after a hard day of skiing. Barometer is open from midday until 2 a.m.

Le Loft

Complexe Olympique, 73550, Méribel Centre.

Le Loft nightclub opens around 11 p.m. until late and is renowned as the biggest club in Meribel. It has a huge dance floor and two bars so you can sit and relax in a quieter spot of the club, or dance all night long in the wild areas.

Despite being one of the smaller ski areas, Meribel-Mottaret has 11 restaurants and five bars. The area does have a good range of restaurants which serve French and regional specialities, as well as international favourites. It also caters for different budgets.

If you are on a romantic break then this is the restaurant to try. Au Temps Perdu is a family run restaurant and is located in a cellar. Every meal on the menu is exquisite and worth the money. Do expect to pay for the quality of the food and fantastic service.

This restaurant serves up a selection of Italian, French and meat dishes. Sample pizza, pasta, duck, Savoyard dishes and great wine at Pizzeria Mottaret.

Go along to Rastro Bar early to get your table. Enjoy the best selection of 60s, 70s and 80s music at this venue which is said to be one of the best party venues in Europe.

Downtown Bar

Have a few drinks at Downtown Bar and hang out with the locals. This venue has pool tables and games machines to keep all entertained. Downtown Bar is open from 4 p.m. until 1.30 a.m.

Le Privilege Club

Méribel-Mottaret, Méribel

Le Privilege is the only nightclub in Meribel-Mottaret. This is a sophisticated club which is more popular on Tuesday nights. Dance all night until the early hours of Wednesday morning at this cellar nightclub.

Nightlife in Méribel Village

Meribel Village is a mini resort which is renowned for its gastronomical greatness as it has a number of excellent restaurants for you to try. It does not have very many bars and clubs as it is a small resort which is ideal if you want to relax and enjoy the peaceful serenity of the surrounding mountains.

Italian dishes are on the menu at Lodge du Village, not to mention a selection of French and Italian wines. The restaurant has a modern decor with spectacular mountain views. It is a great venue to try if you fancy a drink and a snack as it has a restaurant bar where you can sample a number of international beers.

Restaurant Le Plantin

Be warned…...Le Plantin is one of the most expensive restaurants in Meribel, but it is worth it. This is a unique restaurant with a cosy, chic setting. At Le Plantin you can sample rustic cuisine.
